Haywards Heath Golf Club
Club Captain and Ladies’ Captain
We are both very much looking forward to our year as Captain’s at Haywards Heath Golf Club. We had a great Drive-in on 1 January 2018. It was a pleasure, and indeed welcomed by all, to have the Seniors’ incoming Captain Terry Holman join us on the 1st tee, for the first time. Our Drive-in theme was James Bond’s Goldfinger. Tom Hopson cut a dashing Auric Goldfinger, and Margaret looked glorious in her gold waistcoat. Whereas I looked like a hungover James Bond on a bad hair day! It was not surprising that all four drives failed to find the 1st fairway, considering the pouring rain, but we all had a good laugh!
Afterwards in the clubhouse we launched our charity for 2018. Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) is a charity very close to our hearts. We have had family members succumb to this horrendous disease, as well as club members and/or their family members. We have many events lined up to have fun whist raising much needed money for the charity.
We will be working together to ensure that both members and visitors feel welcomed both on the course and in the clubhouse, enjoying both their golf and our community club atmosphere.
Our traditional parkland course, with its tight tree lined fairways and small greens, makes it a challenging golf course, but fair, to play for players whatever their handicap and experience. The course is picturesque and changes through the seasons with stunning views over the South Downs.
We are able to offer memberships to suit all needs. We have thriving Men, Ladies, Senior and Junior sections which offer regular competitions. We have a Pro Team to support coaching needs and a well-stocked Pro Shop, well run by James Verrall, our head pro.
The club also runs a number of non-golfing events such as bridge, Sunday lunch and a variety of evening entertainments. Many members have the club as the core of their social lives.
We are confident Haywards Heath Golf Club will leave a lasting impression and that you will return in the future to repeat the experience.
We would like to wish all members, societies, visitors and guests a very warm welcome in 2018.
